                                       Hotel Villa Tuttorotto

 HISTORIC HOTELS

Since 2010, Villa Tuttorotto is a proud member of "Schlosshotels & Herrenhäuser", an association of romantic hotels, historic country homes and restaurants in Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, northern Italy and southern Germany. This exclusive group of historic hotels comprises some of the most luxurious and stylish palaces and mansions in this part of Europe, and each of these unique buildings preserves and proudly shares its history with its guests.

Greeting and regarding you will be a pleasure for us, you will be amazed!

MUSEUM-HOTEL

The waterfront walls of Villa Tuttorotto, approximately three foot thick, were once part of the fortress walls that surrounded the town and kept it safe from invaders. The basement crypts with their perfectly carved stone walls were used for olive oil production, as well as stowaways where the impoverished inhabitants hid their scarce supplies of food in the hope that they would not be ransacked by invading pirates who plagued these waters in medieval times.

The museum walls of this charming Villa are covered with objects and symbols from the Istrian history creating a type of feeling journey through the past.

The poverty and famine that continued to trouble the region and its people gave birth to the myth of an 18th century artist who hand-carved a life-size wooden sculpture of a well-fed Madonna. She is holding a beautiful, round headed, well-nourished child who has a ball in one hand, while with his other hand he is gesturing with three fingers, symbolizing that happiness should come from the unification of all three major religions. The Madonna and Child greet all those who enter this hotel-museum.

ACCOMODATION

Villa Tuttorotto has only a handful of fantastic rooms: 4 doubles, 2 singles and one suite. The rooms can be rented in a variety of combinations - including reserving an entire floor, with a balcony, fabulous terrace and a lounge with a period fireplace. Each room has a beautiful view of the port and of the endless pine woods that cover the nearly island of St. Catherine and the peninsula of Golden Cape (Punta Corrente).

Like in every boutique hotel, the luxury here is abundant: whether one looks at the teak floors of the rooms, lavish Italian furnishings, bathrooms lined with antique marble, cast iron lamps, hand-made rugs, artisan-carved interiors, museum quality antiques, or the indigenous paintings adorning the walls, every detail has been carefully and beautifully designed.

The individually designed rooms are centrally air-conditioned and each room is equipped with a mini-bar, personal safe, flat screen satellite TV, wireless internet access and, above all… the breathtaking view!

ANTIQUITY SHOP

As an extension to Villa’s decor rich in art and antique objects, you will discover a very specific “hotel shop”, ANTIQUARIATO MASATO, situated next to the Villa itself. There you can browse or buy authentic pieces of furniture and art dating from the past three centuries of Istrian history. As you enjoy the unhurried atmosphere of the boutique hotel’s gallery, you will not be able to resist an aperitif around the beautiful stone table situated in the quiet courtyard by its entrance.
